Understanding Life Transitions

Life doesn’t always go the way we expect it to. Even changes that are “good” on paper can feel overwhelming, disorienting, or harder than you thought they would be.

Transitions can bring up uncertainty, grief, and a sense of being in between versions of your life. In our work, we focus on helping you process what’s happening while also finding your footing again.

Transitions don’t always look dramatic from the outside. A lot of the time, it just feels like something is off.

Here’s what that can look like:

  • You’re going through a major change and feel unsettled or unsure

  • You’re grieving a loss, even if others don’t fully understand it

  • You feel stuck between where you were and what’s next

  • You’re questioning your direction, identity, or decisions

  • You’re holding it together on the outside, but it feels heavier underneath

  • You feel pressure to “move on,” but you’re not ready

If this sounds familiar, you’re not alone. Transitions can take more out of you than people expect.

What Life Transitions Can Look Like

Why Transitions Feel So Hard

Transitions often involve both change and loss. Even when you’re moving forward, there’s usually something you’re leaving behind.

Your mind might try to rush the process or figure everything out quickly. But not everything can be solved right away. Some things need space to be processed.

Without that space, it’s easy to feel stuck, disconnected, or unsure of how to move forward.

Finding Your Way Forward

As things begin to settle, you may notice:

More clarity
You have a better sense of what you want and what matters to you.

More stability
You feel more grounded, even if things are still changing.

More self-trust
You feel more confident in your ability to handle what’s next.

More acceptance
You’re able to hold both the loss and the movement forward at the same time.

How I Work With Life Transitions

I provide a space where you can slow things down enough to actually process what’s happening, while also helping you rebuild a sense of direction.

I draw from CBT, ACT, and other practical approaches to help you:

  • make sense of what you’re experiencing

  • navigate uncertainty

  • reconnect with what matters to you

We focus on both processing and forward movement, so you’re not just sitting in it, but also not rushing past it.
